Swathi had resigned herself to 76kgs body weight & had convinced herself to cope with the persistent postpartum weight retention. From 76kgs to 60kgs, her 16kgs healthy weight loss has literally transformed her fitness levels now and has brought in metamorphic change in her life.
“Living in a metro, being a top-notch IT professional, married for 12 years and being the mother of a 7 year old daughter – the list is long enough to invite unique set of challenges for anyone, I was no exception. Sedentary lifestyle marked by little or no physical activities, stress, not so healthy eating choices took a toll on my health – I began experiencing steady weight gain above and beyond the weight I was already retaining post the birth of my child.”
“So much so, at one point highlights of my day to day life were suffering due to frequent lower back pain, headache, and lethargy. Having to deal with clothes not fitting used to really diminish my confidence,” Swathi narrates difficulties she had to endure due to her overweight condition.
“It’s not that I never attempted losing the extra pounds. At some point, it was obvious a host of things that weren’t alright inside the body were masquerading as symptomatic weight gain. My sporadic attempts at following crash diets, doing yoga, zumba, joining gyms, looking at the internet and randomly following weight loss ideas were bringing down the weight by a few kilos but I used to gain all of it and more as soon as I left such regimens – these did not yield the desired results.” Swathi adds.
“The biggest change brought in by HealthySpan was a paradigm shift in the approach towards regaining health and fitness. Taking eyes off weight loss and focusing on becoming healthy instead resulted in weight loss as a by-product. Health issues I used to face have all vanished now. At 60 kilos body weight without a rebound for months now, with remarkable fitness, well enough to effortlessly complete 10K marathons – I like being showered with compliments from friends, relatives on my health transformation. The greatest of follies is to sacrifice health for any other kind of happiness – I believe in this 100% now.” – Swathi sums up her gratitude with these words.
